About

IMG_4019I am an explorer, – in education, in art and in life. However, the paths I tread are mostly very well worn, and the worlds I discover are often fresh only to me. In sharing my observations with family, friends and other curious souls, perhaps I can provide a welcome jolt of recognition. Or the wonder of an encounter with something strange and new. When the great explorer and linguist Sir Richard Burton was recalled from Damascus, he wrote to his wife Isabel: “Ordered off; pay, pack and follow”, and similar directives have since been given to countless diplomats’ wives. Like them, I am frequently moved to pay the bills, pack my bags and follow, not my husband’s footsteps, but a scent, a trail, a change of direction. My way is not uncharted, many much braver have gone before me, but still I am fascinated, forever chasing the elusive rainbows of original thought.

    • Thank you! It’s a couple of the Twelve Apostles on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia. Awesome seascape, the whole coast. For the past 17 years I have been teaching internationally. At the moment I teach art in Tanzania. I have always done as much travelling as I can during holidays, and now I have a family I also have more appreciation for time at home.

  1. Yes, it is. A big country with a lot of variety. The people are extremely friendly, the wildlife abundant, and there’s an interesting cultural mix. I like your gravitate image, – there are also lots of butterflies 🙂

  2. G’day Sandy,
Just dropping in to thank you for your visit and follow, both are very much appreciated, you have an interesting site going here, I have been snooping for quiet a while, didn’t disturb anything and will be back 🙂

  3. Thank you so much for finding and following our blog 😀

Life is there to be explored as is the world! So your motto “pay, pack and follow” is very much how we probably live our lives too!

Your blog here is definitely one we are keen to follow 🙂

  4. Here’s a message from Türkiye to say “thank you” Sandy. I appreciate your recent ‘follow’, knowing how many interesting and entertaining blogs there are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my little corner of the world tries to offer an eclectic smattering of posts, from basic amateur photography, to sharing my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day-to-day happenings here on our fruit farm in southern Turkey. I also throw in a few of my observations on life and lighter-hearted stuff for good measure.

You are more than welcome to have a look around, stay a while and have a trawl through my collection. There are plenty of categories within the drop-down menus to help in said digging process. Of course, if you have any comments, suggestions or concerns, feel free to let me know – I’m not easily offended 🙂

Hope you have a great day…
